In Barabanki, Brahmakumari and the District Officer Office (DOO) conducted an awareness program under “Operation Jagruti” to curb drug abuse, with active participation from local citizens, school students, and the police force.

The two‑day awareness campaign held at the community centre near Barabanki’s main market concluded successfully today. The event was jointly organized by the spiritual guide of the Brahmakumaris and the District Officer’s Office (DOO), with the primary aim of raising awareness about drug consumption among youth and the rural population and providing early assistance for addiction prevention. Health department experts, police officers, social workers, and local teachers collaborated to conduct lectures, interactive sessions, drug‑free themed plays, and counseling booths. Attendees were given informational brochures, helpline numbers, and a list of rehabilitation centres.

According to available data, the consumption of intoxicants in Uttar Pradesh is continuously rising, with the risk of addiction to alcohol, cannabis, and synthetic drugs among adolescents becoming increasingly serious. The state government has launched a comprehensive campaign called “Operation Jagriti,” aiming to establish a drug‑free environment at school and college levels and to make individuals affected by addiction eligible for rehabilitation. In this context, the Brahmakumaris’ collaboration in social work and moral education, together with the effective policy implementation of the local administration, is strengthening this effort.
