India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made several important agreements to enhance cooperation in investment, financial technology, and sustainable development at a bilateral forum held in Singapore, and pledged to take the economic relations between the two countries to new heights.

During a bilateral economic dialogue held in Singapore, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman discussed several measures to facilitate Indian companies' entry into Singapore’s financial markets and to attract Singaporean investors to India’s infrastructure and energy projects. The two countries formed a working group to accelerate cooperation in the fintech sector, focusing on digital payments, blockchain‑based solutions, and AI‑driven risk management. Additionally, a comprehensive agreement was reached to enhance collaboration in green finance, enabling the use of Singapore’s green bonds and other financial instruments for India’s renewable energy and climate‑change projects.

The finance minister said the visit was an opportunity to give new direction to the India‑Singapore economic partnership, with both countries aiming to double mutual investment by 2025. To achieve this goal, joint initiatives will be launched in key sectors such as SEZ development, high‑tech manufacturing, and biotechnology. A digital portal is also planned to accelerate the exchange of information on financial regulation and taxation, providing traders from both countries with real‑time access to essential data.

In closing, Nirmala Sitharaman proposed establishing a continuous dialogue platform with Singapore’s financial authorities for more comprehensive future cooperation. She emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue and transparent policymaking to deepen economic ties between the two countries and align India’s developmental priorities with global financial resources. The visit was recorded as a significant step toward strengthening investment and financial cooperation under the India‑Singapore strategic partnership.
