At the banquet organized to honor alumni of Delhi’s leading medical college, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh recalled his days as a professor and announced new initiatives to strengthen health services in Jammu and Kashmir.

At a special banquet held on the campus of Jammu’s Government Medical College (GMC), Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh welcomed alumni of leading Delhi‑based medical institutions. The event aimed to honor those students who studied at Delhi’s top medical colleges during their academic journey and are now making significant contributions to Jammu‑Kashmir’s health system. During the banquet, the minister highlighted the role of young doctors in the health sector and shared information about several projects underway in the state under the National Health Mission. He said that both short‑term and long‑term plans are being accelerated to expand access to health facilities, especially in remote areas of the region, and that the cooperation of experienced doctors is essential in this direction.

Dr. Jitendra Singh reminisced about his days as a professor at GMC‑Jammu, where he sensitized many student‑doctors to clinical skills and research. He noted that the academic atmosphere and the energy of the students at that time continue to inspire his work today. The minister also explained that during his tenure he launched several initiatives to upgrade health‑education standards, including the introduction of state‑of‑the‑art technological equipment and the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration. On this occasion, he proposed establishing a platform to strengthen the Delhi‑Jammu medical network, so that more student‑doctors can be encouraged to serve the state in the future.

At the close of the banquet, the alumni present expressed their gratitude to the minister and pledged to play an active role in their respective fields to open new dimensions of cooperation.
