Central Minister Commits to Development Initiatives in Mizoram

The Chairman of the Ministry of Development of the Central Northeast Region, Jyotiraditya Sindhia, inaugurated a formal event in the state of Mizoram, pledging to lead development‑focused programmes. During the event, the minister highlighted ongoing and upcoming projects in the state's key infrastructure, education, and health sectors. This step is part of the central government's continued efforts to accelerate the overall development of the Northeast region.

Mizoram, known for its geographical and cultural diversity, has made significant progress in rural infrastructure, digital connectivity, and health services over the past few years. Sindhia explained that the construction of new roads, bridges, and digital networks in the state will not only boost economic activities but also improve access to education and health services. Additionally, the minister discussed plans to expand the “Digital Literacy” initiative to promote digital education in the education sector, which includes providing computers and internet connectivity in rural schools.

In the health sector, Sindhia stated that the establishment of “Small Hospitals” and “Pharmacy Clinics” in Mizoram is expanding primary health services in rural areas. Furthermore, under the “Medical Transportation” facility, rapid transport for medical emergencies will be ensured across the state. The minister also mentioned that under the central government's “Swachh Bharat Mission” and “Health and Welfare Scheme,” sanitation and health awareness programmes in Mizoram will be further strengthened.

During the event, the Chief Minister of Mizoram and key state officials also took part. They emphasized the need for a unified approach to advance development in the Northeast in partnership with the central government. The programme is regarded as a crucial step to accelerate the socio‑economic development of Northeast India, ensuring improved living standards and inclusive growth for the region's people.
