India's Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal discussed strengthening the bilateral partnership in the areas of economic cooperation, technology transfer, and sustainable development with representatives of the German industry and leading research institutions in Berlin.

In this high‑level meeting held in Berlin, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held extensive talks with representatives of Germany’s major industrial associations, large enterprises, and technology research institutes. Both sides expressed agreement to boost mutual trade, especially deepening cooperation in the automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical, information technology, and renewable energy sectors. Discussions covered plans to combine India’s rapidly expanding industrial infrastructure with Germany’s technology and research capabilities to establish new production chains, joint research and development (R&D) projects, and skill‑training programmes.

The meeting also highlighted the need to provide small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with an easier export‑import platform to improve the current trade balance between the two countries. German delegates pointed out investment opportunities in the Indian startup ecosystem, while India expressed a desire to implement Germany’s “Industry 4.0” solutions in Indian manufacturing. As a result of the dialogue, several working groups were set up to prepare specific project proposals in the coming months and to advance the implementation of bilateral trade agreements. This meeting is being regarded as a significant step toward taking the economic relations of the two nations to new heights.
