Minister Piyush Goyal led a round‑table meeting that brought together bio‑pharma entrepreneurs and policymakers, during which new initiatives and collaborative frameworks to strengthen India’s bio‑economy were discussed.

Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal today chaired a round‑table meeting, highlighting innovative measures to strengthen India’s biopharma startup ecosystem. The meeting was attended by startup founders, investors, research institutions and regulatory bodies. The minister reiterated his commitment to establishing the bioeconomy as a key pillar of national development and explained that under the government’s “Bioeconomy Strategy 2024‑25”, startups will receive tax incentives, research grants and market access facilitation.

The minister specifically mentioned plans to expedite licensing and regulatory approvals through a single‑window system. He noted that with over 10,000 biopharma startups, India is on the brink of becoming a global leader. In this direction, the government has drafted a coordinated action plan to promote biopharma cluster development, skill enhancement programmes, and international collaboration. During the round‑table discussion, participants also explored joint research, capital‑raising options, and export incentive schemes, expressing optimism that these measures will accelerate the growth of the bioeconomy.
