In Delhi, the DCD conducted a detailed review to curb the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), emphasizing the need to strengthen coordinated vaccination and control strategies among the Animal Health Department, the municipal corporation, and private veterinarians.

Delhi National Capital Region (DCCR) Conducts Comprehensive Assessment of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) Status Within the Capital and Presents Integrated Action Plan to Prevent Spread

The review found that recently signs of the disease have been appearing in various animal markets in Delhi and in farms located near rural‑urban interfaces, raising concerns among animal owners and public health officials. In this context, DCCR has proposed a coordinated vaccination campaign in collaboration with the Delhi Animal Health Department, the Municipal Corporation, the Agricultural University, and private veterinarians, prioritizing animals in high‑risk areas for vaccine administration.

Disease‑control measures include strict biosafety protocols, rapid identification and isolation of infected animals, and promotion of disinfectant spray and pest control in affected areas. DCCR has also raised awareness among animal owners about the importance of regular health checks, proper nutrition, and hygiene, and has ordered the strengthening of the supply chain from both government and private sources to ensure vaccine availability. Additionally, inspection of raw animal products at border control points has been tightened to prevent potential disease entry.

With these steps, DCCR has decided to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign using digital platforms and local media to disseminate information about disease symptoms, preventive measures, and vaccination schedules. Officials believe that coordinated efforts and timely action can control the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease in Delhi, providing long‑term protection for both the animal industry and public health.
