Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under a new initiative for farmers, has issued Farmer IDs to 11 crore farmers, enabling them to securely receive the benefits of government schemes and subsidies.

The government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has launched a major digital initiative for farmers, under which 11 crore farmers have been issued Farmer ID cards. This step aims to increase transparency in the agricultural sector and ensure the targeted distribution of subsidies and assistance schemes. Through Farmer ID, farmers will receive direct cash assistance, loans, insurance, and other government schemes, reducing the role of intermediaries and ensuring timely financial aid.

To simplify the issuance process, the Ministry of Agriculture has employed a digital portal and mobile application. Farmers must submit identity documents, details of their agricultural land, and bank account information, after which a unique identification number is issued. This identification number will become the primary means for farmers to benefit from government schemes. Additionally, through Farmer ID, farmers will also gain access to new technologies and training programs designed to boost agricultural productivity.

Under this initiative, farmers are provided not only a new digital identity but also financial inclusion. The head of the agriculture department said, “Through Farmer ID we are speeding up the process of directly benefiting farmers, which will improve their economic situation.” This step is expected to give the farming community more transparent and empowered support, injecting new energy into the rural economy.
