On its sixth anniversary, AIIA‑iCAINE announced the National Ayurveda AI Challenge, aimed at integrating ancient Ayurvedic knowledge into modern healthcare through artificial intelligence.
AIIA‑iCAINE launched the National Ayurveda AI Challenge on the occasion of its sixth foundation day, inviting universities, research institutes and start‑ups across the country to develop AI‑based models on Ayurvedic texts, medicinal substances and disease‑diagnosis procedures. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India, particularly the Department of Ayurveda, as well as the Digital Health initiative under the Ministry of Science and Technology. The organizers said that the challenge will provide a platform to structure Ayurvedic data, offer personalized treatment suggestions based on disease types, and realize AI’s potential in discovering new medicinal combinations.
Students, researchers and entrepreneurs can participate on this platform in various tracks, such as automated translation of Ayurvedic educational material, machine‑learning algorithms for disease diagnosis, and prediction of the efficacy of Ayurvedic medicines. Selected projects will receive funding, clinical testing facilities and technical mentorship. Through this initiative, AIIA‑iCAINE has taken a significant step toward linking traditional knowledge with scientifically evidence‑based healthcare, which will not only expand access to Ayurvedic treatments but also strengthen India’s competitiveness in AI‑driven health technology.
The National Ayurveda AI Challenge will be evaluated in multiple stages over the coming months, and winners will be given national recognition and opportunities for further development. This initiative aims to re‑establish Ayurveda in the digital age and in healthcare.
