The Government of India has released a new strategy for the health sector for 2025, aimed at strengthening medical facilities in both rural and urban areas. Under this plan, the goal is to establish 10 lakh primary health centers and train 500,000 health workers.

The Government of India has released a health sector strategy for 2025, which aims to create medical facilities in rural and urban areas. Under this scheme, the target is to set up 10 lakh new primary health centers and train 5,00,000 health workers. Major health challenges include diabetes and respiratory diseases, whose prevalence rates have increased by 12 percent over the past five years. The government also said that patient data management will be improved through digital health portals. Under this initiative, there is a plan to increase health insurance coverage to 70 percent.

At present, a rapid increase in the number of patients is being seen in India. According to 2023 data, 1.5 crore people are suffering from diabetes, while 1.2 crore are suffering from high blood pressure. Cases of respiratory diseases have also increased by 15%. Amid this pandemic, the government has allocated a special budget to strengthen the health infrastructure.

Under the new policy, along with increasing the number of primary health centers to 10 lakh, there is a directive to appoint 12 health workers in each center. Additionally, the digital health portal will be implemented at the national level, allowing centralization of patient records and quick diagnosis. The policy also states that 70% insurance coverage will be extended to all citizens, so as to reduce the financial burden.

This initiative is especially important in rural areas, where more than 60% of the population still does not have adequate health facilities. Under the new scheme, telemedicine classes will be set up in rural primary health centres, providing expert advice to remote patients. In addition, monthly training programs will be organized for local health workers.

Health expert Dr Rashmi Sharma said, 'This policy will not only increase access to health services, but will also make timely identification and treatment of diseases possible.' She also added that sharing of patient data through digital health portals will reduce medical errors.

In summary, under this new health strategy of 2025, India has got an opportunity to set a new standard in the field of healthcare. The scheme will ensure better facilities for patients, better insurance coverage and faster diagnosis through digital health.
