The Ministry of Health and the Postal Department jointly issued special commemorative postage stamps to raise public awareness about breast cancer, highlighting the importance of early detection and prevention of the disease.

This new series of commemorative postage stamps has been issued in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, aiming to generate public awareness about breast cancer and to encourage timely screening. The stamps feature key information on breast cancer prevention, symptoms and treatment, along with inspiring images that reflect the hope of patients. Postal officials say that this initiative is an effective medium for delivering public health messages to a wide audience, because postage stamps reach every household and are seen continuously in daily life.

Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers among women worldwide, and in India each year lakh women are affected by the disease. According to World Health Organization data, early detection leads to a notable increase in treatment success rates. In this context, the ministry has strengthened screening camps, awareness workshops and mass communication campaigns over the past few years, and the commemorative stamps are seen as a new step in this direction.

The postal department said that these commemorative stamps will be made available across all regions through the national post office network, and will be distributed especially in health institutions, schools and community centres. In addition, copies of the stamps will be made available on digital platforms to further promote online awareness. Health experts praised the initiative, stating that this innovative use of public communication will improve societal sensitivity toward breast cancer and motivate more women to undergo timely examinations.
