At the BRICS summit, India's Prime Minister held a bilateral discussion with the President of Iran, where they talked about agreements on economic cooperation, energy partnership, and regional stability.

At the BRICS summit held on Thursday, the Prime Minister of India had a private meeting with the President of Iran, during which several points were raised to strengthen strategic and economic relations between the two countries. The discussion focused on expanding cooperation in the energy sector with Iran, particularly exploring opportunities for Indian companies to participate in oil and gas exports. Both sides also expressed a desire to reduce trade barriers, encourage investment, and deepen multilateral economic cooperation through the BRICS platform.

Regional security and stability issues were also part of the core agenda. The Prime Minister spoke of supporting peace processes in Afghanistan, Central Asia, and South Asia together with Iran, while the Iranian President expressed a wish to reinforce collective action against terrorism in partnership with India. The two countries pledged to promote technological cooperation in the areas of climate change and sustainable development. This meeting signals that bilateral relations between India and Iran on the BRICS stage are taking a new direction, which will not only strengthen the economic interests of both nations but also set a positive example for broader international cooperation.
