The Legislative Department and the Legal Work Department jointly organized a comprehensive labor donation program under the “Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, 2026,” actively involving citizens to improve cleanliness and waste management in public spaces.

The Legislative Department and the Department of Legal Affairs today decided to further the objectives of “Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyaan, 2026” through a joint Shramdaan programme. Under this initiative, more than 1500 volunteers were called to participate in garbage collection, cleaning and recycling in key public areas of the city—such as markets, parks, educational institutions and government buildings. At the beginning of the program, the heads of both the departments in a short address stressed the importance of citizen participation and said that this campaign will not only promote environmental cleanliness but will also develop responsibility among the citizens towards public resources.

The aim of this Shramdaan program is not only to carry out immediate cleaning work but also to raise awareness about long-term sanitation policies. During the programme, youth volunteers in particular were trained in waste classification, use of biodegradable materials and conducted educational workshops. Additionally, an information campaign was organized at the end of the program, highlighting the correct methods of waste disposal and the benefits of recycling. Such efforts are expected to not only improve the cleanliness of urban areas but also develop a sustained commitment towards cleanliness among the citizens, thereby realizing the core mantra of “Swachhata Hi Seva”.
