The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting successfully concluded the “Swachhta Hi Seva 2026” campaign, which was run through digital platforms and public relations, with millions of citizens demonstrating improved awareness and behavior towards cleanliness.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) successfully completed the campaign titled “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026”, which was launched in early 2024 as a new initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The campaign was primarily designed to raise citizens’ awareness about the importance of cleanliness through digital media, social networks, and public broadcasting. Under this program, MIB organized more than 1,200 webinars, live sessions, and talk shows across more than 50 states and union territories, with participation from health experts, sanitation workers, and government officials.

During the campaign, the ministry released videos, infographics, and interactive quizzes that reached more than 3 crore users, aimed at dispelling common myths about cleanliness and promoting correct practices. Additionally, through the “Smart App for Cleanliness”, citizens were given the opportunity to report the cleanliness of public places, resulting in more than 15,000 reporting points being activated. To measure the campaign’s success, the ministry recorded a 12% increase in compliance with cleanliness standards and an 18% rise in citizen awareness regarding waste management.

At the closing ceremony of the campaign, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting said that “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026” highlighted the power of digital communication and demonstrated that lasting changes in public behavior are possible through information dissemination. He also added that this initiative will serve as a basis for adopting the same model in the future, to ensure continuous improvement in the fields of cleanliness and public health.
