Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal Participates in Bilateral Trade‑Investment Talks in Amsterdam

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal took part in the bilateral trade‑investment talks held in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. On the platform, he discussed with senior industry representatives, trade associations, and diplomats from both countries the measures to give new direction to India‑Netherlands economic relations. The talks focused on boosting Indian exports, especially in agriculture products, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and renewable energy sectors, and on familiarising Dutch companies with investment opportunities in India. Minister Goyal said that India aims to double Dutch investment by 2030 and increase the annual trade volume between the two countries by 30 % from its current level.

The Netherlands is one of India’s major investors within the European Union, and its share of India’s total foreign direct investment (FDI) has been steadily rising in recent years. During the talks, several potential projects were discussed, including hydrogen fuel, electric‑vehicle batteries, digital infrastructure, and agricultural technology solutions. Both sides expressed intent to sign multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enable Indian companies to access Dutch technology and financial support. Trade representatives also called for special provisions to facilitate Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in entering the European market, thereby strengthening the supply chain between the two countries.

This visit is viewed as part of India’s broader foreign trade policy, whose primary objective is to deepen economic cooperation with European partners. Minister Goyal said that such high‑level talks will foster long‑term cooperation between the two countries.
