The National Health and Drug Control Agency (DAHD) has concluded its latest special campaign 6.0, marking significant progress towards a drug‑free society.
The National Health and Substance Abuse Control Agency (DAHD) successfully concluded its special Campaign 6.0, introducing new strategies to promote a drug‑free lifestyle across the country. This phase incorporated lessons from previous campaigns and placed special emphasis on the three pillars of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Under the campaign, a comprehensive network of awareness workshops, mobile health units, and digital counseling services was established in educational institutions, workplaces, and rural communities. Through partnerships with cooperating state governments and non‑governmental organizations, evidence‑based interventions were implemented to reduce substance‑use trends in targeted areas.
As a result, a decline in substance‑related cases and a notable increase in the number of patients admitted to rehabilitation centers were observed in several states. Sensitivity to the adverse effects of drugs grew especially among the youth, leading to the mandatory adoption of drug‑prevention curricula in schools and colleges. The preliminary report released at the end of the campaign stated that more than 70 % of participants in the educational workshops understood the risks of substance use and expressed intent to adopt healthy alternatives.
DAHD regards this success as a model for future campaigns and has announced plans to further strengthen the digital health platform and expand its reach in rural areas in the next phase. In this direction, the agency has pledged to maintain continuous dialogue among policymakers, health professionals, and communities to realize the goal of a drug‑free India.
