The Election Commission said that no political party had requested a time for representatives to meet before 4 p.m. today, and the rules for the meeting were clarified in this regard.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) stated in its official briefing today that the protocol for meetings with political delegations has been clarified. The commission noted that no national or state‑level political party had requested a meeting with representatives before 4 pm this evening. Accordingly, it clarified that meetings will be arranged only after an official request, and the stipulated time‑frames will be strictly adhered to in order to provide equal opportunities to all parties.

The ECI took this step amid preparations for the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections, where strategic discussions and alliance negotiations among various parties have intensified. In recent weeks, electoral alliances have formed in several states, prompting the commission to ensure that all parties receive equal time slots and that no party gains an unfair advantage. The commission also stated that any future request for a meeting must be submitted in writing, specifying the purpose, number of representatives, and expected duration. This process will increase transparency and strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.

Officials further indicated that if a party does not submit a request within the prescribed time‑frame, the commission will not consider offering an alternative time slot. The policy aims to ensure that all political parties can operate under equal terms and to prevent any form of bias in the electoral process. Analysts have praised these measures positively, while some parties have yet to clarify the availability of their representatives.
