Under the nationwide cleanliness and awareness initiatives, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) successfully concluded the “Swachhta Hi Seva 2026” campaign, which saw active participation from industry‑related institutions and local communities.

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises formally concluded the “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026” campaign that had been running for the past two years. The main objective of this initiative was to strengthen cleanliness, health and environmental awareness at the workplaces, production units and surrounding areas of small and medium enterprises. During this period, the ministry organized more than 1,500 workshops, cleaning drives and awareness sessions across 12 states and union territories, actively involving SME owners, employees and local citizens. These programmes provided specialized training on recycling, water conservation, waste management and clean production processes, with an expected notable improvement in the sustainable development capacity of the industries.

Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 was coordinated with the National Cleanliness Mission, enabling alignment between government policies and private‑sector initiatives. As a result of the campaign, the ministry reported a 30 percent increase in waste recycling rate, a 20 percent reduction in water usage, and a significant improvement in compliance with workplace cleanliness standards. In addition, the campaign highlighted industries' commitment to social responsibility, leading to increased awareness and participation in cleanliness among local communities.

In the next phases, the ministry announced plans to incorporate this model into long‑term policy, so that cleanliness and environmental protection can be linked with national economic development and concrete steps can be taken toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Thus, “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026” concluded not only as a campaign but also established itself as a lasting commitment to cleanliness and health in India’s SME sector.
