The National Defence University has launched the second cohort of its master’s program in Financial and Economic Security, thereby further strengthening the country’s economic security capabilities.

The National Defence University (NDU) announced today that it will launch the second batch of the Master's program in Financial and Economic Security (FES). This program, which began with the first batch in 2024, aims to make students aware of the complex interplays between financial terrorism, cyber‑economic risks, and global economic policies. The NDU chief said that this second batch will meet the growing demand for experts who wish to work at the intersection of national security and economic stability.

The curriculum includes in‑depth study of international financial regulation, risk management, cyber‑fraud analysis, and economic intelligence. NDU has established collaborations with the Reserve Bank of India, the Ministry of Defence, and national intelligence agencies, providing students with real case studies and internship opportunities. The admission process includes academic qualifications as well as a detailed research proposal and an interview, to assess candidates' analytical abilities and strategic thinking.

Graduates of the first batch have made significant contributions to India's economic intelligence network, including monitoring foreign investment flows and providing policy recommendations against financial exploitation. According to NDU, the second batch will advance in the same direction, further strengthening the economic dimension of the country's defence capabilities. This initiative makes clear that India is integrating economic and financial risks into its national security strategy, ensuring economic stability even amid global volatility.
