Along with production in aquaculture, value addition, supply chain improvements, and the expansion of digital sales platforms are likely to give new momentum to India's blue economy, leading to increased export earnings and greater job creation.

India has taken several policy steps in recent years under the “Blue Revolution” to promote the sustainable use of aquatic resources. The fish‑farming industry is now moving away from being solely production‑oriented toward a value‑added, market‑oriented model. Under the government’s “Blue Economy” plan, water‑based agriculture, formative fish feed, processed fish products, and branded packaging are receiving support, creating new investment opportunities in the process of bringing fish from raw material to finished consumer products. Private‑sector investors have begun to invest capital in cooling chains, frozen fish, fish‑processing plants, and brand building, thereby narrowing the gap between production and market.

The development of digital platforms and e‑commerce has made fish sales more transparent and dynamic. The farmer‑to‑consumer (C‑to‑C) model, online wholesale markets, and mobile‑based bidding systems have enabled fishers to obtain better prices by reducing dependence on intermediaries. Additionally, export‑oriented processing units have increased the competitiveness of Indian fish products in European and Southeast Asian markets. The combined effect of all these factors has the potential to significantly increase income from fish farming, creating new employment opportunities in rural areas and strengthening the contribution of the blue economy to national economic development.

Overall, after production
