Indian Railways concluded the year‑long series of events organized to honor the 150th birth anniversary of “Vande Mataram”, featuring a special train, cultural performances and public awareness campaigns.

Indian Railways Ministry formally concludes the one‑year celebration organized nationwide to commemorate the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram.”

The Ministry’s initiative sought to reinforce patriotic sentiment, strengthen India’s cultural heritage, and associate rail travel with national pride. During the year‑long program, specially decorated “Vande Mataram Express” services ran on several major routes, with carriages adorned with symbolic images from the freedom struggle and lyrics from the anthem. At various stations, cultural performances, art exhibitions, and educational workshops themed around “Vande Mataram” were staged, drawing participation from school and college students, musicians, and historians.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Rail Minister, the Central Culture Minister, and representatives from several state governments. They noted that “Vande Mataram” not only played a pivotal role in India’s freedom movement but continues to serve as a symbol of national unity and diversity. On this occasion, the Ministry pledged to launch further initiatives to promote national songs and cultural heritage, including naming new high‑speed trains after “Vande Mataram” and developing interactive digital content that chronicles the anthem’s history. In this way, Indian Railways successfully concluded its year‑long comprehensive program, taking a significant step toward revitalizing national pride.
