On the first day of the fourth conference of mining ministers, several new initiatives and important deliberations emerged, giving a new dimension to coordination between the central and state governments.

Mining sector stakeholders discussed several new initiatives and policy guidelines during the opening session of this year’s fourth conference of mining ministers. The conference was attended by representatives from the central Ministry of Mines and ministers of mining and energy from 12 states. The session placed special emphasis on mining safety, digital tracking, and strengthening environmental standards. The central government proposed the establishment of a joint task force to oversee and ensure compliance with state‑level mining projects.

During the conference, the Ministry of Mines launched a new platform under the “Smart Mining” initiative for a digital registry and real‑time data sharing. This platform will enhance transparency of mining activities and enable rapid assessment of environmental impacts. Additionally, the government launched a pilot program to promote the use of the latest technologies for mining safety, including drone and sensor‑based monitoring.

State ministers also presented their plans, explaining how they are implementing mining projects at the local level in line with national policies. They emphasized water management, wildlife conservation, and job creation for local communities, urging the adoption of an integrated development model. The first day of the conference helped strengthen centre‑state coordination and contributed to drafting a clear roadmap for sustainable development in the mining sector.
