The counting of votes in the state's district and block council elections began today, which will determine the political balance at the local level and provide indications for the upcoming legislative assembly elections.

The vote‑counting process for the district council (ZPTCs) and mandal council (MPTCs) elections in Andhra Pradesh commenced today under the supervision of the State Election Commission. Votes submitted via electronic voting machines (EVMs) and paper audit trail (VVPAT) are being counted sequentially to ensure transparency and reliable results. Ballots received from polling stations are transported to temporary counting centers set up at each district headquarters, where a detailed team of election officials, observers, and representatives is overseeing the process.

The significance of counting votes for ZPTCs and MPTCs lies not only in local governance but also in shaping the state's future political direction. The election of members of these bodies reflects the grassroots popularity of various political parties, providing strategic cues for the upcoming assembly elections. Major national and regional parties have adopted either optimistic or cautious stances regarding their candidates' performance at this stage, while independent candidates have also sought to consolidate their support based on local issues.

Preliminary results of the vote count indicate intense competition among major parties in some districts, while local alliances have played an effective role in other areas. The State Election Commission reiterated its commitment to adhere to all protocols for announcing results and stated that no provisional announcement will be made until the final results are officially published. The successful completion of this process will demonstrate the strengthening of Andhra Pradesh's democratic framework and give citizens confidence in the selection of their representatives.
