Harmanveer Singh, a 17-year-old youth from village Dhesian Kahn of Goraya area of Jalandhar died tragically in a road accident. While returning to his village his motorcycle collided with sewer pipes on the road without any indicators or lights. The seriously injured youth died during treatment in Ludhiana hospital. After this incident, local people and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) have expressed strong displeasure and demanded registration of a case of murder against the culprits. The young man was going towards his village. According to the information received, Harmanveer Singh, 17 year old son of village resident Omkar Singh, was returning from Goraya to his village after studying on his motorcycle (PB 09 AB 1438 / P.B. 1438 N.). When Harmanveer reached near Dhesian village, there were sewer pipes lying in the middle of the road. Due to lack of awareness of these big pipes placed on the road during night or darkness, Harmanveer's motorcycle collided directly with them. The collision was so strong that he was seriously injured. Died in Ludhiana hospital. Immediately after the accident, with the help of passers-by and local people, he was taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Seeing his condition very serious, the doctors there referred him to a big hospital in Ludhiana after first aid. However, during treatment in Ludhiana, Harmanveer lost the battle of life and died. After this incident, a wave of mourning has spread in the entire area. Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar's Divisional Incharge Bhai Davinder Singh Khalsa has expressed deep sorrow over this accident. He said that this is such a tragic incident which cannot be expressed in words. Davinder Singh Khalsa raised questions on the failure of the administration and the contractors and said that an innocent youth had to pay the price of the contractor's negligence with his life. He said that neither any reflector sticker was put on the sewer pipes placed on the road nor any warning light was installed there. He said in a stern tone that leaving the pipe like this in the middle of the road without any security arrangements is very careless. He demanded that strict legal action should be taken by registering a case of culpable homicide or murder against those responsible for this accident and the concerned department or contractor.
