NSIC decided to pay a dividend to the government from its net income for the fiscal year 2025‑26, thereby strengthening the state's commitment to supporting small industries.
National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Government of India, announced in its annual report for the fiscal year 2025‑26 that it will distribute dividends to the government. This move aligns with NSIC’s financial health and its mission to provide financial assistance, technical training, and marketing support to small and micro enterprises (SMEs).
NSIC’s net income for 2025‑26 was approximately ₹1,200 crore, of which ₹300 crore was distributed as dividends to the government. This amount was returned to the government as capital dividends, thereby increasing public capital and improving the government’s capital structure. According to NSIC, this dividend distribution is in line with its capital policy, which aims to distribute 20–25 percent of net income as dividends.
The decision will have a positive impact on the small industry sector. The additional capital received by the government as dividends can be used by NSIC to invest in new financial schemes, technology upgrades, and export promotion programmes. Moreover, it reinforces the government’s confidence in NSIC’s development, enabling stronger financial assistance and policy support for small industries. Senior officials of NSIC said that this step reflects the government’s commitment to the overall development of small industries and paves the way for further investment and support in the future.
