The National Asset Monetization Council (NAMC) conducted a detailed assessment of the status of ongoing monetization initiatives in its 21st board meeting and decided to prioritize the rapid monetization of government assets.

National Asset Monetisation Council (NAMC) Conducts Detailed Review of Current Monetisation Programme at 21st Board Meeting

The National Asset Monetisation Council (NAMC) conducted a comprehensive assessment of the progress of its existing monetisation programme during its 21st board meeting. It was clarified that in the previous quarter, more than 150 assets linked to various government institutions were identified and prepared for market‑suitable monetisation. These assets include industrial land, commercial buildings, and stakes in public enterprises. The council chairperson reported that these initiatives are estimated to generate approximately 1,200 crore rupees in potential revenue, although the actual cash‑in‑hand speed has been slower than expected. Consequently, the board passed a resolution to form a special task force to accelerate the existing processes.

The meeting placed particular emphasis on the importance of rapid monetisation, as the government has adopted a policy to promote asset‑based revenue sources to strengthen financial stability and provide additional capital for development projects. The task force was instructed to streamline basic documentation, expedite dialogue with potential investors, and implement measures to minimise legal obstacles. Additionally, NAMC released strategic guidelines for maximising value through a public‑private partnership (PPP) model, especially in infrastructure and energy sectors. This initiative is expected to accelerate the swift monetisation of government assets in the near future, thereby improving public finances and propelling key national development projects.
