Sarbannand Sonowal presented a strategy under the National Waterways Development Agency (NWDA) to increase coastal and inland waterway freight transport to about twice its current level by 2047, making it 12% of total freight, thereby hoping to reduce logistics costs and achieve environmental benefits.
